I really find it appalling that there are so many people out there in this lonely cold world who think it's OK for their child/teen whoever to be reading or watching for that matter, Twilight. Weather you are reading the books or have seen the movie, it's NOT OK. My sister was telling me a while back that she did some research online about it and it wasn't pretty. This book is about vampires people,,,SATAN!!! So, as I logged onto facebook tonight, I found that a lot of people are reading the books, and while I'm not judging these people, I just don't agree and I'm entitled to my opinion.
While doing my research, I found this awesome website which has reviews of movies and found that the Twilight series and movie review was quite interesting! I, for one, am all about doing some research on movies before I go see them. For example, I used to love Tom Cruise until he jumped on Oprahs couch, then, that changed my life. You see, I just don't believe in Scientology. I believe that JESUS is the only way to get to heaven. BELIEVE in him and YOU, my friend, shall be saved:) I'm just sayin' y'all:)
So, go to this website, read all about the movie and books that you shouldn't be seeing and reading anyway and have a lovely day!!

Please don't hate me for the things I'm about to write, but I think that you should hear another side of the story on this. To preface, I have read all of the Twilight Series and I'm also a Mormon.
When I first started reading the blog, I thought that you were being sarcastic and started laughing. I've read the blogs of my "Twi-hard" fanatic friends, and their accounts of why the books are "so amazing" and "so wonderful". I thought what you posted was a bit of satire, making fun of the people who are obsessed with the series.
Then I clicked on the link to the article and realized you were being serious. It's true that some of the themes in Twilight could be construed as "evil" or "occult". However, my stance is that the book is FICTION. It is not promoting an occult agenda. It is not a book trying to teach you to be a vampire, or tempting you to take on a wiccan lifestyle. All are free to choose what they believe, and there is plenty of media in the world that is EVIL - no questions asked.
My husband also read the books, and we took our 8 year old daughter to see the movie together. We discussed the positive themes in the book - strengthening family bonds, resisting temptation etc. But we also discussed what was controversial in the film. She seemed to grasp what we discussed with her, and it's brought up even more frank family discussion since.
My biggest problem with the article overall what how it had such an Anti-Mormon theme. How much about the LDS faith do you honestly understand? I consider myself a Christian, as I do believe in Christ. I'm sure I believe at least 90% of what you believe. Most of what was listed was either false or skewed, and it perpetuates the stigma that is publicly accepted with my faith. I can't say that all I believe is easy to accept at face value, but I can say I've prayed for myself, and know what I believe. And if there's anything you want to find out for yourself, please read it from our official website www.lds.org - not from an author who obviously has an agenda against my church.
I do find it going overboard for those church groups mentioned in the article who have "bible study" discussions based on the book.
Do I think that Twilight brings up some controversial topics? Absolutely. But do I think that reading Twilight will automatically make you a member of the occult? Absolutely not. It was refreshing to me that the book wasn't littered with language, drugs, and pre-marital sex. I will allow my daughter to read the book IN A FEW YEARS, when the story is more age-appropriate.
Still friends?
